A fun way to get people to turn things off when they leave rooms is to start a Penalty Jar!! Take a container and decorate it so it looks neat and has some cool eco-messages on it, then have your family agree on what the penalty will be for leaving things like lights and fans on and not unplugging unused devises, for example a penny or ten cents for every light.

My friend's mom puts tape overtop of all the light switches in their house that way whenever anyone goes to turn them on they get reminded to keep them off. It saves electricity and kepps their house really cool for the summer because they don't have all the lights giving them more heat.
