Do more than just “Fall Back” this Sunday!

Many Canadians will be setting their clocks back an hour this Sunday as daylight saving time comes to an end for another year. This means your weekend just got one hour longer!

What are you going to do with all that extra time? You can do a happy dance, you can let your parents sleep in, or you can get moving on your Battery Blitz Mission!

Use the extra time to replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. These detectors are super important because they warn us if there is a fire or a carbon monoxide leak. It can be really bad if they run out of juice.

We know that not every Canadian follows daylight saving time. In fact, there’s almost an entire province that won’t be setting their clocks back – we’re looking at you Saskatchewan. But that doesn’t mean you can’t make it your goal this weekend to replace the batteries in your detectors too!

This Sunday’s To Do List:

1. If you live in an area that does daylight saving time, set your clocks back 1 hour.
2. Replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Make sure you get your parents to help you!
3. Tape over the ends of the used batteries so they don’t cause a spark.
4. Add them to the battery pile you’ve collected for your Battery Blitz Mission.

When you’ve collected all the batteries you can, take them to a battery recycling depot so they can be disposed of properly.

Don’t forget to enter the Battery Blitz Contest!

The contest closes at 10 am ET on December 1, 2017 so don’t miss out on your chance to win!
