Sounding the rare alarm

Some of the world’s rarest species got some extra attention in the Wildlife Conservation Societies’ State of the Wild edition, a report that highlighted species that need the most TLC.

The list includes: The White-headed Languor (Trachypithecus poliocephalus), the Cuban Crocodile (Crocodylus rhombifer), the Grenada Dove (Leptotila wellsi), the Ploughshare Tortoise (Astrochelys yniphora) and the Green-eyed Frog (Lithobates vibicarius). So what are the big threats to most of these at risk species? Habitat loss, the illegal pet trade, and overfishing – all things that we can do something about!
