If you have checked your Chinese zodiac calendar, you would know that 2010 is the year of the tiger. As cool as that is, our celebration will be far less meaningful if there aren’t any tigers around.

That is why the Myanmar government is tripling the size its tiger reserve – which ensures that it will remain the world’s largest tiger reserve. In the not so distant past, 100,000 Asian tigers roamed the wild. Sadly, this number has dwindled to less than 3,000. The Hukaung Valley, located in a remote region of northern Myanmar, totals 8,450 square miles and is now a protected tiger reserve. What GRRREAT news!
