Wade through the prairies with the National Tour team as they wave goodbye to Calgary and shout a warm HELLO to Saskatoon.
Saskatoon was by far one of the best surprises of this trip so far! I had no idea what to expect entering the city but I was absolutely blown away by it! I’ve never been to the prairies, never known anyone from Saskatoon and never even seen pictures. Well it was honestly one of the best places we’ve visited so far.
After about four days of being bed ridden in Calgary we were finally starting to feel better. We packed up shop and decided to make the long drive to Saskatoon all in one day. We arrived late on Friday night but by pushing through we were able to enjoy an ENTIRE day off.
We used our free time wisely and went exploring. We woke up and treated ourselves to a nice brunch on a patio then decided to go our separate ways for a little while. The city was absolutely beautiful. There are tons of gorgeous old buildings and an amazing trail system that goes all along the bank of the river. It provided me with a perfect place for a jog before I checked out the spectacular Mendel Art Gallery. Shannon spent her day off exploring the city with her camera. She managed to snap some spectacular shots! We reconvened and enjoyed a delicious meal with Saskatoonians, some of the friendliest people in Canada.
On Sunday we did two shows at the Saskatoon Children’s Museum. It was great! We had a small but dedicated audience and they seemed to love our Animal Ambassadors and our message. The staff treated us like gold, telling us all the great places to see in Saskatoon and they also provided a very welcoming environment for all the animals. We can’t thank them enough for their hospitality. Saskatoon is truly an Earth Ranger friendly city!
Next we’re on our way to Manitoba. We’ll be coming pretty close to the Old Man on his Back Conservation area so we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes open for Plains Bison!
Tune in next week for another update from the National Tour Team as they visit Winnipeg!
