One of the planet’s most precious resources is water. Sure, it might not seem that hard for you to get water, just turn on the tap, but have you ever stopped to think about how that clean water finds its way to your kitchen sink? From the time it is collected and brought into your home, to when you dump it down the drain, water is on a long journey. This amazing traveling water doesn’t happen automatically. There’s a whole team of people whose job it is to take care of water.

Green Plumber?

An important member of this H₂0 team is the plumber. They work hard every day to keep our water usage as environmentally friendly as possible. Plumbers use such new technologies as low flow showerheads and toilets to help us use less. Plumbers also install and maintain new systems that reuse water in ways that help make sure we don’t waste a single drop!

Say a big thanks to these heroes of water by celebrating World Plumbing Day on March 11! Sure, telling your friends and family about how plumbers help protect our planet’s water is one way to celebrate but there is more you can do.

World Plumbing Day Poster Contest

Get involved by designing a poster to celebrate World Plumbing Day. If you are in grades 1-5 then grab the craft supplies and get started bringing your creative vision to life!

Contest details

• Students must be between grades 1 through 5
• Poster needs to be on A4 or letter size paper
• Entries need to be submitted by March 30, 2012
• Submissions should be scanned and emailed to Mr. Rich Prospal at rjprospal@asse-plumbing.org.
• A cash prize will be awarded to the 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place winners
