Few things say spring more than the happy soundtrack of chirping birds. Our flying friends are all around us, and that\u2019s why it\u2019s the perfect time for today\u2019s Eco-Activity! Head out to your \u2018hood and take note of the birds you see, then snap photos or sketch away and add your field notes to create your own local bird guide!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s how to get guiding!<\/strong>
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.<\/strong> Go for a walk around your neighbourhood and see if you can spot 2-3 different bird species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. <\/strong>Once you\u2019ve found your birds, take photos, make sketches, and jot down notes about their behaviour in your notebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. <\/strong>When you\u2019re happy with the number of different birds you\u2019ve found, it\u2019s time to make your field guide!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. <\/strong>Using paper and colouring tools, draw or print out photos of the birds you saw, then include your observations below. Make notes on things like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ufeff    \ufeffa. The bird\u2019s common and scientific name<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ufeff    \ufeffb. Its physical characteristics \u2013 how big is it? What colours are its feathers?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    c. Its behaviour \u2013 what was it doing? Was it flying? What did its song sound like? Was it alone or in a group?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. <\/strong>Take your guide to the next level by looking up more details about the birds you\u2019ve found, like their habitat range, diet, and migration patterns!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
