For today\u2019s eco-activity we\u2019re helping you plant a perfect pollinator garden to give our fluttering friends a safe place to call home!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s what you\u2019ll need:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Seeds for nectar and host plants, like aster, black-eyed Susan, and milkweed (check out the planting guides available in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/click.icptrack.com\/icp\/relay.php?r=48034639&amp;msgid=370834&amp;act=4101&amp;c=1309481&amp;destination=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.earthrangers.com%2Femail&amp;cf=18315&amp;v=d102c7464cad8ffaba6f682cf4d2c1c9146c6b11c40b1857f1285ff97cd2d8be\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pollinator Power Mission in the Earth Rangers App<\/a>&nbsp;to help you figure out what grows best where you live!)<\/li><li>A sunny spot in a garden or a flower pot, window box, or planter<\/li><li>Topsoil<\/li><li>A small hand shovel or trowel<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s how to get growin\u2019!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>First, check the instructions on your seed packets to ensure you\u2019re planting them at the correct depth, distance, and light conditions.<\/li><li>Get planting! Sow your seeds and water them frequently \u2013 most seeds need moisture to sprout, so watering will be extra important in the early days.<\/li><li>Besides planting native plants, there are lots of other ways to make gardens more butterfly-friendly:\ufeff<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-2-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"224\" src=\"\/EN\/CA\/wp-content\/uploads\/butterfly.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-585941\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8211; Try adding small piles of branches to attract different species of butterflies and moths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Pick a spot for your plants that\u2019s as sheltered as possible from wind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Plant larger patches of each species to help our pollinator pals forage more efficiently.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; In addition to colorful flowers, you can make homemade butterfly food with a mix of rotting fruit (like bananas, peaches, plums, and apples) placed in a shallow dish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; A puddling station helps butterflies stay hydrated and receive vitamins and other nutrients from muddy water.
