Wildlife photographers work hard to capture beautiful animal images in their natural habitats without disturbing them. Sometimes, when they\u2019re on assignment, camped out in disguises called \u201cblinds,\u201d they can sit and wait for animals for hours, even days! This means that they need to have patience and a great understanding of their subjects in order to capture beautiful images of them. Do you think you have what it takes to become a wildlife photographer?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For today\u2019s eco-activity, let\u2019s learn how to take amazing wildlife photos! Since World Photography Day and World Honey Bee Day line up perfectly with each other, today your assignment is to take a photo of one of our pollinator pals!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What you will need<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A phone or camera&nbsp;<\/li><li>A wild place close by with lots of areas for pollinators&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"295\" src=\"\/EN\/CA\/wp-content\/uploads\/steps.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-586700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.earthrangers.com\/EN\/CA\/wp-content\/uploads\/steps.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/www.earthrangers.com\/EN\/CA\/wp-content\/uploads\/steps-300x148.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.earthrangers.com\/EN\/CA\/wp-content\/uploads\/steps-324x160.jpeg 324w, https:\/\/www.earthrangers.com\/EN\/CA\/wp-content\/uploads\/steps-533x261.jpeg 533w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><strong>Tips for taking awesome photos!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Make sure your subject is in focus. On a camera, this means either using the&nbsp;auto-focus settings, or if you\u2019re in manual focus mode, adjusting the focus ring.&nbsp;Making sure that your subject is crisp and clear in the image is important for&nbsp;capturing a great photo! If you\u2019re using a phone with a touch screen, you can tap&nbsp;on your subject before taking your photo to make sure that they\u2019re in focus.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-2-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Think about the foreground and the background of the picture, not just your subject. What\u2019s in front and what\u2019s behind your subject? Being attentive to your surroundings and framing your subject with a beautiful foreground and background can be the difference between an ok photo and a great one!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"199\" height=\"103\" src=\"\/EN\/CA\/wp-content\/uploads\/camera.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-586699\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Make your subject stand out! You can do this in many different ways. One way is by framing your subject so that there\u2019s room wherever they\u2019re going! If you\u2019re taking a photo of an insect for instance, and they\u2019re walking to the right, leave a little extra room on the right so that you can tell where your multi-legged friend is heading. This will help them stand out and draw the eye to your subject! You can also do this by using what\u2019s called \u201cdepth of field\u201d on a camera. By shooting at a low depth of field, you\u2019re making sure that only your subject is in focus, and the background is blurry. This makes your subject stand out even more.
