Dr. Danielle N. Lee is a big fan of rodents (like mice and rats). That\u2019s why she spends a lot of her time studying them. Do you know what she\u2019s an even bigger fan of? Diversity in STEM. That means she wants to see all sorts of different people from different backgrounds be a part of S<\/strong>cience, T<\/strong>echnology, E<\/strong>ngineering and M<\/strong>ath. Everyone should feel welcome, no matter who you are and where you come from!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Dr. Lee finds rodents fascinating. She is studying them in urban environments, like the city, to learn how they get along with humans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Social media isn\u2019t just for fun! Dr. Lee uses it to teach too! She has almost 40,000 followers on her Twitter account. She\u2019s also given a TED Talk!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Dr. Lee travels regularly to Tanzania to learn all about the giant pouched rat! These guys are HUGE! They can grow to 70 cm long and weigh up to 2 kg! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Another really cool part of Dr. Lee\u2019s rodent research is learning about how giant pouched rats can be trained to sniff out landmines and save human and animal lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. In 2017, Dr. Lee was named an Emerging Explorer by National Geographic<\/a>. This honor is given to scientists who are exceptional, innovative, and poised to change the world. That sounds just like Dr. Lee!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
