Lots of butterflies absolutely love our trees in Canada too! This will help you make the best\u00a0possible habitat for butterflies and all the other animals that will be hanging out\u00a0in your tree. Some butterfly favourites are oaks, elms, cherries, and hackberries <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"56\" src=\"\/EN\/CA\/wp-content\/uploads\/trees-for-butterflies-eco-activities-header-how-to-plant.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-591593\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.earthrangers.com\/EN\/CA\/wp-content\/uploads\/trees-for-butterflies-eco-activities-header-how-to-plant.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.earthrangers.com\/EN\/CA\/wp-content\/uploads\/trees-for-butterflies-eco-activities-header-how-to-plant-300x28.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong>\nDig a hole 3 times as wide as the root ball of your baby tree and only as deep\nas the top of the roots.&nbsp;\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. <\/strong>Carefully remove any container and loosen the root ball by squeezing\u00a0it and pulling it apart with your hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong> Place the tree in the hole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. <\/strong>Fill\nthe hole back in with the dirt and add some water!\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. <\/strong>Starting\n5 centimeters from the trunk, add lots of mulch all around your tree, more is\nbetter.
