Today is National Battery Day, and it\u2019s the perfect time to talk about something small that can make a big difference for our planet: batteries!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Batteries power so many things we use every day \u2014 toys, flashlights, remote controls, and more! But when batteries run out of energy, they don\u2019t belong in the garbage. When thrown away, they can leak chemicals, polluting the natural habitat of wildlife, or even cause fires<\/p>\n\n\n

Ready, Set\u2026 BLITZ!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Battery Blitz contest officially starts today, and we want you to be part of it! Battery Blitz is all about helping the planet by safely collecting and recycling used batteries \u2014 while also having the chance to win some awesome prizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participating is easy. All you need to do is safely collect as many used batteries as you can, take a picture of yourself and your haul, and recycle them properly at a Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! drop off location<\/a>. You can even build your own creative battery collection box to store them. If you do, remember to tape the ends of each battery or store them individually in small plastic bags to keep things safe!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Enter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are two ways to enter the contest:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Complete the Battery Blitz Mission in the Earth Rangers App, or <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Submit your contest form on the Battery Blitz webpage<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    There are tons of prizes waiting for Earth Rangers across the country! One winner from each province will receive a $25 Amazon gift card and an exclusive Earth Rangers swag bag, and one lucky Grand Prize winner will take home an iPad!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
