Monarchs Surfing on Air

Why waste energy when you don’t need to? Monarch Butterflies certainly have their energy saving techniques down to a fine art. During their migration, they have to travel looong distances without stopping to rest. They are able to save energy on this journey by riding columns of warm air. This surfing lets the monarch flap its wings less and often lifts them high into the air. Now that’s a surfing lesson we want to take!
