Project Update: Snowy Owl, Red Fox & River Otter

Hey Earth Rangers! It’s Kristyn from the Ontario Conservation Accelerator, and I’m excited to share how we’re helping protect wildlife in Ontario!

My work focuses on amazing animals like the Snowy Owl, Red Fox, and River Otter, making sure they have safe, connected places to live. Since the start of this project, our team has been working hard to protect important habitats like forests, wetlands, and shorelines. These are the places animals need to find food, raise their young, and stay safe!

So far, we’ve helped protect nearly 1,000 acres of land across Ontario, which is about the size of 1,000 football fields! Some of these areas are right next to protected spaces that already exist like Algonquin Provincial Park and French River Provincial Park. This helps create even bigger, safer homes for wildlife.

Why does this matter? Well, animals don’t stay in just one place – they have to move around to find what they need! By connecting protected areas, we’re creating pathways called wildlife corridors so animals like owls, foxes, and otters can safely travel between habitats.

Every piece of land we protect helps build a stronger and healthier environment for wildlife and for people too. Thanks for being part of our mission to protect nature, one habitat at a time!
