Ask the International Bird Rescue Anything!

After being cleaned of oil by International Bird Rescue, these African penguins were released along Cape Town beaches with a splash of pink paint to aid tracking by researchers. The paint was temporary and faded in 30 days.

Have you ever wondered who rescues and rehabilitates waterbirds after disasters like oil spills? This week, on the Wild Wire blog, we’re hosting experts from International Bird Rescue! For over fifty years, they’ve responded to more than 200 oil spills on six continents – and they’ve used Dawn to help clean oiled birds! Now, they’re here to answer your questions about their work and the birds they help!

This is your chance to ask the scientists and veterinarians at International Bird Rescue anything you want to know about waterbirds, shoreline clean-ups, and how you can be a Wildlife Hero for birds in need. Comment on this article with your questions, and we’ll send them off to International Bird Rescue so they can answer some of their favorites. Stay tuned on the Wild Wire blog for their responses–and more chances to ask our experts questions!

In the meantime, head to the Adoptions section in the Earth Rangers App to accept the Shoreline Saver mission! When you successfully complete the mission, you’ll receive a free digital common loon adoption kit, courtesy of our friends at Dawn! Plus, Dawn will donate $5 to International Bird Rescue to help them continue their invaluable work.
