Keep Our Rivers Clean!

Hey Earth Rangers, Verna here! I’m a green frog, and I’m excited to show you my habitat: a river!

Rivers are amazing! They’re full of living creatures. Fish, mammals, and amphibians (like me) all call rivers home. But rivers are important to people, too! They provide freshwater for drinking, washing, and farming. Oh, and we can’t forget that rivers are the best places for canoeing, swimming, and just having fun!

Sometimes the trash that people leave on the ground ends up on the shore or in the river. That’s a BIG problem for animals like me! We can get tangled up in it or hurt by sharp objects. And have you seen garbage? It’s so colourful! It looks like a tasty treat to us. But if we eat it, it can make us really sick!  

Keeping the water clean is super important. That’s why I’m so excited about the Shoreline Saver Mission!  When you accept this Mission, you’ll learn all about how to have a safe litter clean up with your friends (and some helpful grownups). It’s a great way for you to protect a river near your home.

With a little help, we frogs (and other aquatic critters) will have a super-healthy and super-clean home, all thanks to YOU!
