Find and identify an interesting plant or animal! Your Mission:

Mission Objective:

You don’t have to travel far to find a wealth of living things. Just walk outside to your nearest garden, park, pond, or field and you’ll be surprised to find how much life exists in your own backyard. Become a Backyard Biologist and learn all about the amazing plants and animals around you!

To complete this Mission, kids will…

  • Read the Mission brief to learn more about the importance of citizen science
  • Look for interesting plants and animals in a natural area
  • Use the provided guides to help identify your find
  • When you’re done, let us know about the interesting plants and animals you found during your explorations. Don’t forget to share a picture of you doing the Mission!

Mission Items:

When members accept this Mission, they receive a Mission Brief to help them get started!
