Hey, Earth Rangers, it’s me, your old pal BEE-atrice! Have you heard what everyone is buzzing about? Only the most important day of the year: May 20…which is Bee Day! The day everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, celebrates me! (And my BEE-FFs).

Now, you might wonder why bees deserve a whole day of celebration. The answer is simple: because we’re such hard workers! Being ‘busy as a bee’ isn’t just a saying, it’s true! We bees have a very important role to play—we’re pollinators.

Here’s how pollination works: when bees fly from flower to flower, we collect nectar and pollen—yum! But a lot of those pollen grains stick to our fuzzy bodies and legs. When we land on another flower, some grains fall off and pollinate the plant. You can thank me and my hive-mates for lots of tasty fruits and veggies. And don’t forget beautiful flowers! We help with those, too! (You’re welcome!)

If you’re looking for some Bee-Day celebration inspiration, how about checking out the Pollinator Power Mission? When you do, you’ll learn all about planting your own pollinator-friendly garden (I promise, I’ll come visit!). No yard? No problem! You can grow your plants in pots instead! We’ll even teach you how to build a bee condo (I’m ready to move in, if you’re looking for a tenant).
No matter how you celebrate, I hope your Bee-Day is BEE-utiful!

Check out the Pollinator Power Mission in the Earth Rangers App to find out more about pollinators and how you can help protect them!
