These people have the coolest job ever. They get to record whale songs! Follow along as they install a microphone underwater. But wait…what’s with all the bubbles?! Special thanks to our friends at BC Whales. Check out their socials @bcwhales to see the amazing work they do.

BC Whales

When we think of animals that need protection, we often think of smaller critters – but all animals need our help, including some of the biggest creatures on Earth: whales!
That’s why we’re so grateful for BC Whales, a group of caring researchers based in British Columbia, Canada. BC Whales is interested in learning all about humpback, orca, and fin whales. Their goal is to conduct research in ways that are minimally impactful on the whales’ lives. That means observing whales from the land, and using tools like hydrophones and drones to listen and watch from a distance. By learning everything they can, BC Whales can use scientific facts to advocate for the protection of our cetacean friends.
For their incredible dedication to research, conservation, and public education, we’d like to give a whale-sized thank you to BC Whales!
