A big thanks from biologist Kristyn!

Thanks to amazing Earth Rangers like you, this past year was a big one for important conservation work happening all across Ontario! By adopting a Red Fox, River Otter, or Snowy Owl, you’ve helped support Kristyn and the Ontario Conservation Accelerator (OCA) as they worked to protect and connect habitats for wildlife.

Animals need more than just one safe place to live. They need connected habitats where they can find food, raise their young, and move safely from one area to another. That’s why this project focuses on protecting important forests and wetlands next to existing parks and conservation areas, helping create healthy wildlife corridors across Ontario.

So, what’s been happening this year?

Kristyn and her team have been hard at work protecting hundreds of acres of forests and wetlands across the province. New lands have been conserved near places like Algonquin Provincial Park, Puzzle Lake Provincial Park, Mellon Lake Conservation Reserve, and the Elzevir Peatlands Conservation Reserve. These protected areas give wildlife, including Red Foxes, River Otters, Snowy Owls, and many other species, more room to roam and thrive.

The team is also working on tons of exciting new projects! More land is being protected near Thunder Bay and Uxbridge, while plans move forward for future parks and connected green spaces where both wildlife and people can enjoy nature. They’re even exploring the creation of a huge new protected area in eastern Ontario that could protect thousands of acres of habitat.

This is just the beginning! More conservation projects are already underway, and Kristyn and her team are continuing to identify new places that can be protected in the future. Thanks to Earth Rangers like you, Red Foxes, River Otters, Snowy Owls, and countless other animals will have healthier, more connected habitats for years to come.

You can still help make a difference for animals like the Red Fox, River Otter, and Snowy Owl. Head to the Adoptions section in the App or visit the Earth Rangers EStore to get your own Adoption Kits and help support conservation efforts for these awesome animals!
